The last few years have seen a steady increase in our membership with the added blessing of a number of young families joining our church. Our worship area is now looking really full on a Sunday morning and our church hall could no longer cope with the activities we want to do with our growing Junior Church (JIGS & SIGS)
Prayerfull thought is still going on as to what we see our church being like in the future and what type of changes we will need to our church property to meet the mission of the next few years. Whatever this is, changes will take time with designs to consider, planning permissions to obtain and money to raise.
In the meantime our young people’s work needs to continue and hopefully expand and our hall is just not big enough. Other requirements within the church required an early provision of more hall space.
After some thought we decided to elect for some temporary accommodation sited to the east of our church hall. Availability of such accommodation was investigated and a “Portocabin” type of building was selected from a range offered by Concept Accommodation, a local Ilkeston company. After a long period of talking to our neighbours, obtaining planning permission, placating our Parish Council and arranging the associated building and support services work the building is now in place and ready to use for God’s work in West Hallam.
Our thanks go to the Erewash Valley Circuit who have provided the finance for the whole project, to Concept and everyone else who have been involved.
