JUNIOR CHURCH DISCO PARTY

Friday night 2nd January saw all of the young people of our Junior Church (JIGS&SIGS) and their friends arriving at the church hall for a New Year party disco. Steve and Roger our DJ's for the evening were there with the latest in the disco charts and lightwheels, spotlights and a smoke machine.

At one time all of our young people were totally lost in the smoke. Half time saw a fantastic spread of food on the buffet table provided by Helen and Pippa with competitions with prizes whilst we eat. After the buffet we gave some time to our "Middleogue" in which we remembered Jesus as the light at Christmas, bright angels and a shining star and how we could go out and spread his light with all of our friends, everyone lighting a candle for one of their friends. Then back to our disco until it was time to go home.
Thanks to all who helped particularily to Joanne for manning the tuck shop and Joanna and Kevan for helping to clear up. We all look forward to the next one.

WEEKDAY FELLOWSHIP
The March meeting of our weekday fellowship saw eighteen of church members meeting at Jennie Taylor’s bungalow for an evening of silly hats and silly food.

The hats were most innovative with our local brownies involved in producing some great “titfers” for those without time or skills to produce their own.The evening started with Malcolm Brown accompanying us on his guitar to sing some of our favourite hymns. After this everyone had been asked to bring along a silly story or joke and soon everyone was laughing fit to bust to items including  “how to give a cat a pill” and  hilarious tales by Gerald from his seafaring days.

Food followed as it always does at Methodist get togethers.  The table was loaded with all sorts of silly goodies from gooseberry fool to caterpillar cakes and cornflakes and milk. Silly or not it seemed to take a very short time before only a lonely biscuit or a piece of pork pie were left.

At our last meeting it was decided that we would support the Smiles Foundation who look after children and families in places such as Roumania by providing housing, food, schools and medical facilities. One of the ways to give support is to buy bricks for their building projects each brick costing £10. From donations collected at our fellowship meetings six bricks were to be purchased.

After closing prayers everyone made their way home agreeing the evening a great success.
