WEST HALLAM METHODIST CHURCH

CAFÉ CHURCH

Six 0’clock Sunday evening at West Hallam Methodist Church and the start of a new venture in worship, Café Church.

Lots of publicity had been sent out to other churches and put in the newspapers and on the radio, but importantly sent to our local youth meetings. The church worship area had been changed and chairs now

surrounded brightly coloured tables complete with candles and serviettes to give a much more informal look. Our catering team had prepared scones, buns, biscuits and hot and cold drinks. Our worship leaders Stella and Martin had set up their music equipment and the multi media presentations, prepared by our minister Reverend Tony, were loaded into the digital projection equipment.

All we needed now were worshippers. Did we need to worry? Of course not, for by just after six pm the Café was full of over seventy people of all ages from those in their seventies down to six year olds.

Stella, Martin and Tony then led us in worship with music, song and Christian media presentations separated by times of good fellowship, friendship and food. The noise buzz from everyone enjoying a new worship experience was great to hear.

What did people think about it? -  Well!! here are some sound bytes e-mailed to us after the service by a spread of all age ranges.

    • from joyful to prayerful; hearts opened to God
    • we felt unity and fellowship and an intensity of worship
    • we felt humbled and privileged to be involved
    • setting, atmosphere and brilliant songs/music spot on
    • an evening that was of real spiritual benefit
    • an inspirational night
    • great to spend time worshipping God with friends

Everyone left looking forward to our next CAFÉ CHURCH on SUNDAY 14thJANUARY AT 6.00pm at the SAME PLACE

                                                                                                 God Bless.

Operation Christmas Child

Christmas approaches and members of the Methodist Church again, having                     collected many items, met to fill shoe boxes for the needy and hurting children  in over 13 countries overseas

The contents of the boxes include, gloves, scarves, hats, toys, sweets, soft toy, tooth paste and tooth brushes, soap and face cloths.

The exterior of the boxes are brightly decorated with Christmas wrapping paper and each box is labelled as to contents and suitability for age and sex of the child receiving the present.

Finally two pounds is sent with each box to fund its transport to the continent.

The boxes are delivered to Yeomans in Ilkeston to begin their long journey to the children.

Thirty five boxes are being sent with our prayers that somewhere a child who might be in hospital, an orphanage or a refugee camp will have a happier Christmas for receiving our gift. May God bless them all.
